Touring cyclists in the seventies were still considered unusual and good equipment was hard to find. I used Karrimor panniers and racks ordered from England and a front bag from Kirtland in the USA.  And though the colour has faded these bags are good enough to use today. Toe straps were considered high tech and triple chain rings just starting to be available for touring cyclists. As you can see no one wore helmets and bike shorts were only for sissies. I wore racer's shoes with cleats that were impossible to move once you were strapped in and you didn't walk too well in them either.
