NEPAL
Nepal was always a dream and here I was at the airport in Kathmandu needing a visa and with no foreign currency to pay for it. It was a delightful introduction to Nepali generosity when the customs people let me into their country believing I would return with the money to pay for a visa. And I did. Our first week was spent mainly in Nepal. We did manage to get in a bike ride but the highlight had to be the airplane ride with Buddha Air over the Himalayas where we saw Everest on a picture perfect day.
WEEK TWO WEEK THREE
There are no superlatives capable of describing the mountain scenery nor any adjectives that leave one with the same sense of awe that the mountains themselves do. My photos are poor substitutes for the real thing. If you ever have the chance GO you will never regret it.
WEEK ONE
We took the bus to Pokhara an experience you must have first hand to understand and then the next day flew into Jomsom to begin our trekking. It was a voyage from night to day, from city to country, from 2002 to 1900, and our real trip began. In Kagbeni we met Yunjum with whom I correspond today. We stayed in her family's tea house and started to walk up towards Thorong
Lah.
From Kagbeni it was all downhill until the hot springs after which it was all uphill to Poone Hill and then of course all downhill again until the road. Time passed quickly, we ate pie and lasagne, and fresh bread, and
Dal Bhat, and and and and.
