VANCOUVER VICTORIA WHISTLER KAMLOOPS VERNON NELSON CROWSNEST CALGARY
We flew into Vancouver on a Sunday and rode to Victoria a beautiful city with great biking weather and some impressive trails. That's Jack on the Sooke Rail Trail. On the way to Nanaimo the boatman let me pilot the ferry for a while. This is our campsite in Nanaimo and as you can see we are true touring cyclists with panniers full of food and plastic bags.
From Nanaimo we took the Ferry to Horseshoe bay and then rode up the Sea to Sky Highway and as its name implies it is up. We took some time to explore Whistler and then headed for Lilloet the trouble was that Cayoosh pass was in between us. One of the hardest rides I have ever done about 14km of 12 to 14 percent grades. Mind you it was downhill about 80km after that to Lilloet.
After Lilloet we headed to Kamloops Vernon and then to Nelson via the Monashee Mountains. From Nelson it was off to Crowsnest but we took a diversion type of shortcut over Grey Creek Pass. A word of advice, don't go that way. From Crowsnest if is a relatively easy ride to Calgary and then to home.
